The Night Takes Me in

by Jemma   Jun 25, 2006

Slipping out of the night
Into this no mans land
Into the hell of life
When the peaceful sleep is at my heart

That's where you can pretend
You have been erased
And no one cares
And you can just lie so silent
For every single moment you want to
And no one cares
That's all I want when I see them

That's when you wake up
You just know they're there
They're always watching

And I cloak myself in darkness
Invisible to their beady eyes
That's when I'm the same as everyone else
When they cannot find me
I know all the paths too well

I love slipping into darkness
And I believe I'm just a wisp of smoke
I'm floating over their heads as they stumble
And their unseeing eyes stare through me
And I am wiped clean by the night air
So that they do not see the stains
So they do not know my name
So they do not know the sins the night hides for me

I keep jumping over the walls into the fierce frontier
Rocks, stones, arrows, bombs
And they're always aimed at me
Flying shrapnel hit me, hit me, hit me
Falling, falling, slipping, slipping
Still seeing them, just ghosts
They do not really see me
They are blind

But I still feel their stares
And I feel the stones
And I'm pummelled into darkness
And the deathful peace finds me each time
And the darkness always takes me in
