If I hadn't run away

These days go by and fade away
like memories in my past
but my love grows stronger with each new day
and it's so impossible, unthinkable, to last

He doesn't know, he cannot see
how much he truly means to me
I give him one look, a fleeting glance
seeing if he'll look my way
but I am left staring
at a wish that keeps fading, drifting away

One thought, one moment
keeps me going through the day
he makes me feel uplifted when I'm down
and just when I feel that I'm losing it all
he takes the pain away

When I stare into his eyes
it's so delicate, dreamy, yet so impelling
and I feel a change inside of me
but I look away, overpowered
unworthy of his glance

I can't help but smile
when I think about him
he is just so charming, adorable
witty but clever in every way
always so sweet, so loving,
so sincere to me

If only he knew, if only he could see
how much he has done for me
he stole my heart away
but he will never know
for I am too weak, powerless
afraid of what he would think
so I will never say

Now I am left with the thought
of what might have been, could have been
if I hadn't run away
