China Doll

by Vegetable   Jun 27, 2006

I've been waiting here.
Untouched unless cobwebs were brushed from my head
for many dark and lonely years.
Still here, on the shelf overlooking your bed.

Perhaps you don't remember,
how you used to brush my auburn curls.
The fun we use to have
when you were just a girl.

You would do my hair
and dress me in gorgeous gowns.
Such elaborate games we played
set in lovely imaginary towns.

I'm beginning to appear abandoned
my porcelain skin no longer shines.
Chunks of hair torn from my once tight bun.
Dust collecting in my glass eyes

I always knew nothing lasts forever.

I really enjoyed this one. It's a great description of the emotions of the things in our past. 5/5~Keep up the good work
