Unforgettable words

by Krissey   Jun 28, 2006

Their mother prayed over their lives
The second they both were born
“Lord put your angels around them
Let there be little days in life they mourn”
She brought them up in a Christian home,
Taught them the Scripture all the time.
Whenever they had a problem,
She always knew the perfect line.

“As you lie down to bed at tonight,
Just know you’ll sleep in peace,
For the Lord alone, keeps you safe.
And all your fearful thoughts will cease.
“Don’t you ever give up or quit
God is the way, the truth, and the life
Promise me you’ll live by faith
And never by your sight”

Their mother died and left her children
She birthed a healthy baby daughter and son
But as Julia grew up she started dating
And a Business man came out of Jordon
After these children reached 20
Things took a turn for the worse.
Julia's boyfriend started to hit her,
And Jordon's business failed to reimburse

Julia hated getting beat up everyday
After putting her mothers words aside for years
She decided to pray the Scripture her mother said
“Father I’ll sleep in peace because you comfort my fears”
It took Jordon a little longer to see the light,
He wandered in the darkness, feeling alone,
Yet forgetting that God was always with him,
No matter how long he put his faith on a loan.

So they both said…

“As you lie down to bed at tonight,
Just know you’ll sleep in peace,
For the Lord alone, keeps you safe.
And all your fearful thoughts will cease.
“Don’t you ever give up or quit
God is the way, the truth, and the life
Promise me you’ll live by faith
And never by your sight”

For God says “Fear not almighty soldier
I’ll get you through the next days
Don’t you worry about tomorrow
There are enough problems in just today
You will walk through the valley of death
Many times throughout your life, you’ll do wrong
But I will never leave you or forsake you,
I am forever your strength and your song.”

Yes, those who believe can keep their faith, and live with hope. How sad for those who cannot see a better tomorrow. Very well done. xx

Excellent poem Krissy. Your faith in God comes through very clear in your poem. Thanks for reading my poem on John Denver. His songs to put you closer to the Lord and nature, I believe that anyway.

Wow! This was a tad sad.

Very good though! Your flow was great, and the rhyming was also good! You two are great at writing collabs together! I'd like to have a look at your individual work too, Cause these poems from this account are wonderful!

Although this poem had it's sad parts throughout it, I thought that it had a sense of calmness to it.. If that makes sense. But I loved it! Keep it up! 5/5
