Ongoing Triumphs

by Jemma   Jun 28, 2006

Ongoing, keep going, can't break it up now
Don't let him get the better of me
Keep laughing and don't frown
Don't let him see that he has got to me

Small pleasures in our bickering
Small mercies for his pride
So difficult to break through his wards
He keeps his doors barred

Sometimes he lets me in
And the brilliance of the moon is in his eyes
Such fury, anger, light, love
All there for me to see
All staring back at me

And so I take my small triumphs
As our masks sometimes fail
And he lets his guard drop
And I'm the only one to see
And he's the only one to see the true me

We lie, we deceive and we cheat our hearts
But we still always end here
Tightly holding on to each other
Wrapped in the bitterness of fate
But we take our small triumphs
When the other smiles and slips

**Ok i know this is yet again not in the erfect place but poems are so hard to categorize when they're always crossing over into the other boundaries**
