Fault (1988-93)

by Ed or Ian Henderson   Jun 28, 2006

They see the one they want:
These justice men in hoods.
A burst of heavy fire
Paves the street with blood.
Coolly they slay their victim,
Submerge into the crowd.
Onlookers gaze in terror,
Claim they never heard a sound.

Live in blind illusion.
"Couldn't happen here."
Don't care about their targets.
They prey on all our fear.
They believe in freedom,
And know who they're fighting for.
"A life for a life": believe it.
This is the only gun law.

Come fight in the open,
You cowards wearing hoods.
Can't prove your cause is worthy
By spilling all this blood.
Will you cry for mercy
If you throw down your gun?
If you should die in agony
Then will justice be done?

See the mindless M.P's
Condemn these sick attacks.
But when the table's turning
They stab us all in the back.
They have their protection
Bound by thick red tape.
Fat wallets and a thick skull.
Wait again... 'til it's too late.

***

This was originally written in 1988 about the terrorism problem in the UK, but I adapted it again later to be more ambiguous, so I could include the actions of more worldwide terror groups. The original text no longer remains but I recall was particularly harsh on the Irish: but I was young and didn't really understand what freedom is.
