Phoenix

by James Sawyer   Jun 29, 2006

So many dreams spin through my mind
Like a fool who’s gone emotionally blind
One thing that persisted clearly I could see
Was how much you're essence meant to me

When your love evaporated and passed me by
Burning hot tears dripped from my eyes
Pain so bad way deep down inside
The person I was just withered and died

Like a phoenix reborn in flame
I still am myself but I'm not the same
A different outlook a different view
The same person but now someone new

Experiences shape this change in mind
Learning the lessons time after time
The path is unclear and evidently long
The hardships I endure shall make me strong
