Insomnia...Insanity

Sleepless nights engulf me
Eyes are wide, puffy and red
My pillow is wet with betraying tears
And cold feelings fill my bed

The blanket cannot suffice me
I toss and turn in mental pain
Darkness forever hurts my mind
And my thoughts drive me insane

The lights outside are blinding
Though really, they are plenty far
My body wants to run to them
But my soul tries not so hard

The red numbers are flashing
As my alarm clock ticks away
I ponder how long I've been here
...Probably more than a day

Scream. My mouth is forming it
But my lips can't heave the word
For help is too far from my grasp
And no body yet has heard

I'm gripping the sheets tightly
For I am slipping, I will fall
Outside the room they're watching
They see; they've known it all

My arm outstretches widely
Beseeching someone's grasp
But they stand there, and I lay here
In life's unsacred wrath

And suddenly I understand
This is not where I should be
"What is this?" I cry, "What is this?"

I never plead insanity

    Oh wow. I just loved this poem. And I can relate to the feelings you put into this poem. I ecpesially loved the part :

    It really gave me chills when I wrote it. You are one of the most talented poets on this site. Great job. Keep it up;)

    Such talent, dear Sarah!!! Really mind-blowing!! I'm just thrilled that i could read this....I'm in Virginia right now looking for houses so I'm at a hotel with my family and I snuck on the hotel's computer lol!!!
