500 Mile Drive

by Olliver Kahle   Jun 30, 2006

My thoughts light up as beacons of heaven,
A revelation written as blue as your eyes,
The emptiness lingers around my fingers,
The shadows eagerly wait at the edge of the bed,

I follow your brave lead through the wastes,
Your words stringing me along the way,
My anchor to reality, keeping me sane,
As the rest of the world goes out of focus,

Just wake me up when we get there,
I don't have the heart to see it through,
You sing me softly asleep, like you always do,
And I hope that when I wake it will be just you.
