Smoothtalking the devil

by Olliver Kahle   Jun 30, 2006

I sit at the edge of my bed, I can not sleep,
These nighttimes become so ridiculous,
My thoughts just keep racing through me,
Maybe it is just the devil whispering in my ears,

I sit down at the table, the hour is early,
Drinking my coffee has been so numbing,
I do not hear the talk going round the table,
I can only hear the devil yelling in my head,

On the road again, it is a daily routine,
The sights passing by are ever so boring,
I do not even see the kids pressed to the window,
Just the devil's soft and wicked laughter in my ear,

I sit at the edge of my bed, I want to sleep,
The night is still young and I have time,
To maybe do tonight what I never did,
To just release this devil from my side
