Dear Old Friend Of Mine

by ShhhhItsASecret©   Jul 1, 2006

Dear old friend of mine,
The one whom I love still,
I am sorry for everything,
All the things I could not fulfil.

I loved you so dearly,
With every ounce of my heart,
But it simply wasn't enough,
To keep us from drifting apart.

I would have waited for you,
But you don't feel the same for me,
You have had someone else,
Someone to call your baby.

I had to give up on my hopes,
They were simply absurd,
But don't believe I don't still love you,
Because I do, I give you my word.

But now you want me gone,
And I simply cannot accept that,
I still care so deeply for you,
And I miss the way we used to chat.

I just wanted to say I'm sorry,
For all the pain I've bestowed upon you,
I'm sorry for being so clingy,
And not being able to let you go.

Dear old friend of mine,
Please, oh please don't go away,
I miss our friendship so much,
So please, I ask you to stay.

This poem is okay, but I've seen that you can do better than this. It feels weaker than the others, but I can't place it exactly. Like it's lacking the emotion needed.

But that doesn't make it bad in my opinion. Losing a dear friend is one of the most painful things ever to happen, so even though I don't feel enough emotion in this, I will still say it did make me think about a close friend I've not spoken to for years - and thank you for that. x
