It seems so long ago,
That you were just a crush,

And I no longer blush.

You became my best friend,
And I shared all my dreams,
There was one I kept though,
That of my wildest schemes.

It is my desire,
Just to belong to you,
But she stands in my way,
After all that went through.

She'll never let you go,
Even though she's moved on,
When I try to step in,
She'll no longer be gone.

This is what holds me back,
Is her still in your life,
I don't care that you're friends,
But this is too much strife.

I think I know what this is,
It's 'cause of long ago,
When I liked you back then,
And it started to show.

She got scared I'd step in,
And tear you two apart,
Though I said I wouldn't,
She held fast to your heart.

Now you two are no more,
And I want my own turn,
But she just won't let me,
And I'm feeling the burn.

When she is free of you,
Would you please let me know,
So I could have my chance,
And let these feelings show.
