Life is my steering wheel

by nickie   Jul 2, 2006

As I stand here at this podium,
I'm trying not to cry.
As I look at all my classmates,
I can only think of goodbye.

As I see the parents here,
as you support us on our day,
I want to thank you all,
and this is what I have to say.

Thank you for yelling,
without it, we'd never learn.
Thank you for putting sunscreen on us,
without it we'd burn.

Thank you for saying no,
or we would've gotten our way.
Thank you for teaching us to ride our bikes,
so we could ride away.

Thank you for being there,
when our heart was broken in two.
Thank you for not critisising by saying,
they wern't made for you.

Thank you for teaching us,
how to drive your car.
For without your assistance,
we'd never get very far.

Thank you for loving us,
with all the love in your heart.
Thank you for being there when we start to fall apart.

Thank you for being,
the best that you could be.
Thank you accepting,
me for me.

Thank for for not always seeing,
eye to eye.
Thank you for having a tissue,
when we needed to cry.

Thank you for being there,
throughout the years.
Thanks for always doing your best at,
drying my tears.

So I thank you for everything,
but it's time to go
For life is now my steering wheel,
to help me grow.
