She's crying over nothing Again

by Laffalot   Jul 2, 2006

She's crying over nothing again,
And cursing at herself.
She says that she's a failure,
As she grabs a razor off the shelf.

As if the devil had consumed her,
She stared darkly at her reflection,
She slowly lowered the razors edge,
Then made the connection.

She screamed out loud,
tears stained her face.
She dropped the blade,
And watched the blood fall to the ground with grace.

Her eyes burned from crying,
Her dress was now stained red.
She swallowed hard,
Then cautiously made her way to the bed.

Sweat dripped off her forehead,
As she fell to the floor,
She looked up at a picture of her father,
To whom she used to adore.

"How could you do this to me?"
She cried,
"Why did you leave me here like this?
All I could do was try. I tried."

Her voice trailed off,
She grabbed the sheet off her bed.
Gently she wrapped her arm,
And watched as it bled.

Slowly she crawled into her bed,
Her arm burned.
Over and over,
She tossed and turned.

She was mesmerized by the rope on her door,
To which her father grasped two nights before.
She could remember everything,
Even what he wore.

She could still remember the screams,
And the look on his face.
She had to escape,
She had to get out of this place.

She could not leave,
But she could pretend,
Her only escape,
Would always help her mend.

She's crying over nothing again,
And cursing at herself.
She knows that she's a failure,
And again reaches for the blade on the shelf...

I really liked how you repeated that same stanza at the start and end. Thought it gave the poem abit more power. The imagry was also good.
