by put the [boom boom] into my heart   Jul 3, 2006

Pause your life,
while sitting still at the stoplight.
This face that caused a wreck,
full of beauty, empty inside.
Color her black,
before her twelve shades of insecurity fade away.
Glance out your rear view mirror,
and yield to this broken heart.
Reverse that contradiction of a conscious,
and honk twice if you love me.
Don't forget to signal,
before you make this turn onto my street.
Come to a complete stop,
before you turn up the sound of my soul.
Zero to fifty right before I close my eyes.
Drive me to my sanctuary,
save me from this dulling beat beneath my chest.
Don't cross before I say go,
switch gears and grab my hand before I fade away.
We're running low on fuel,
do you think we'll make it back to me?
Turn on your brights,
so I can squint to see what's ahead of us.
There goes the horizon.
Please,
don't let me look back.
Save me from this nightly ride of redemption.
