Once Upon A Hero

Once upon a distant land
There was a hero neither small nor grand
He came and freed the people of their guilt
And in his honor a statue was built
But the night he died was dark of sorrow
Asked the children, "Will there be another tomorrow?"
Rumors began to spread of evil brewing
A new hero the country started pursuing
The statue stayed still and never moved
Until a new hero was found, decreed and approved
He removed all the evil and sent it away
And torn down that old statue the very next day
Several years passed and the hero remained
A legacy and a tribute he had attained
The kingdom erected a new statue of him
Because for the people he would risk life and limb
However one sad day he finally died
And people everywhere all mourned and they cried
Evil made its way back and things looked bleak
A newer hero was to be found within the week
Men were gathered from near and from far
And a hero was chosen by whom best could spar
Once again the sin was destroyed and defeated
This new hero was loved and warmly greeted
The old statue down and up came the new
But once again death would not subdue
Struck down by fate the knight soon departed
And once again the search for a saviour started
Many were offered the job but all of them refused
They said that they would not last and only be used
Finally a small boy stepped forward and said to the public
"We do not need a saviour, be optimistic.
The evil can be destroyed by our own two hands."
Everyone listened and stopped their hero demands
Soon people stood up for themselves and the evil deceased
And the kingdom gathered around for a feast
The small boy was declared the genius of the year
Now everybody had nothing more to fear
In their eyes he was decreed a rescuer and a giver
And a soon he was rewarded with a life sized stone figure
