A soldier

Listen to my story
one filled with misery and woe
its a tale of a soldier
that lived many years ago

his heart was filled with happiness
his cheer none could destroy
he has never frowned
even when he was a boy

he enlisted in the army
so his father would be proud
but his mother was not happy
"this I cannot allow"

he was loved by everyone
family friends and his neighbors
when he left his little town
everyone was filled with anger

he said "goodbye, I'll be back one day"
as he walked onto the plane
little did he know
he would come back only once again
