Masks

by SeppensAngel   Jul 8, 2006

I pick up the phone
Your number I call
I feel so alone
With no one to catch me as I fall

"We need to talk..."I say.
"You need to know the truth"
You sound scared as you say "OK."
I start, "I am only a youth

And mistakes I have made.
Lies are everywhere.
And now the price I have paid.
As I now wish I had paid more care.

I am a bunch of masks.
Nobody knows the real me.
They know the fakeness.
They know who I pretended to be.

I don't even know who I really am
So how can you?
I hated me, so I ran.
but now I want to be real, I want to be true.

You don't love me,
I know you think you do
But you can't, don't you see?
You don't know me, but I know you.

I love you with all my heart,
which is why this is so hard to say
but we have to part,
and go our seperate way.

So I can stop living a lie,
So I can try to find the true me,
It'll be hard to get by,
But it's the way things have to be."

I finished with tears in my eyes,
threatening to fall,
expecting to hear a sad "goodbye"
ending the call.

But you didn't say "bye"...
"I promised to love you
till the day we die.
I still love you.

I knew it wasn't all real,
I knew it from the start.
I'll make you a deal,
We will not part.

I'll help you,
I'll help you remove the masks
If you want me to.
But I'll warn you, it won't be an easy task.

It'll be painful and hard,
And you'll have to stay strong.
Take it by the inch, not by the yard.
Before long, you'll find where you belong.

And I'll never leave your side,
I'll be there through and through,
I'll be your guide,
Just don't forget that I love you."
