Behind Bars

I cant wait to see you,
Ive missed you so much,
It feels like youve been gone forever,
I cant remember the last time we talked,

You must miss your daughter,
Shes really getting big,
Im sure you are very proud,
Shes doing well but needs her father,

I hope you take a rein on your life,
Getting back into drugs will have the same result as before,
Stealing will have to be off your mind too,
You need a job and have a beautiful daughter to take care of,

I hope you do well,
And stay strong like I know you can,
Be smart and dont mess up,
Everyone believes in you,

I cant wait to see you again,
After years of waiting for you to get out,
You can take charge of the life you possess,
And spend it making the best,

Even though you have made some mistakes,
Im proud that you are my cousin,
I love you so very much,
So do me a favor and stay out from behind bars.

*My cousin is in jail and has been for a couple of years. He did drugs and stole some things. Before he got arrested he had a daughter with his ex-girlfriend who was 16 at the time. While he was in jail his mom raised his daughter along with his ex-girlfriends family. Both families dont have much money so it has been tough, but my cousin is getting out soon. From his letters it really sounds like he is going to turn his life around, but its going to be hard for him. I just really hope he can do it and doesnt fall back into his old routine because I love him more than I can describe.*

This poem goes along with the one about my uncle in that its not my best because the topic is tough for me...
