As the sky falls behind the trees,
I disappear behind my closet door
Trying to find that outfit
The one that fits the best
And will make your jaw drop
I apply my makeup step by perfected step
Pick out the best jewelry I have
And step into my cutest shoes
Then turning to the full length mirror
I stop and examine the look I had accomplished
Thinking first whatd you think
Then how youd act when you see me walk through the door
Putting all my emotion into such a simple task
I sit and wonder¦
Why is it that I care?
I try my hardest to make you notice me.
When to you I am just that girl.
As you slip right past me,
Not even blinking.
I think¦
What do I need to do to make you see me?
Then out of the slient shadows steps out a man I had never noticed.
He turns to me in his best outfit.
Making my jaw drop.
He had perfected every step of his look.
Even his matching shoes.
And turning to me he said
I never thought youd notice me.
But Ive noticed you.
And that sparkle in your eye.
Realizing for the first time¦
It wasnt my outfit.
My hair.
My makeup.
Or my shoes.
It was me.
And thats all it ever needed to be.
