Lucky Leaf

by Angela   Feb 27, 2004

During fall walking outside
Hit in the face by a leaf
Golden orange with a hint of red
The colors mix so beautifully
Not a leaf of extraordinary size
But rather small, and pleasing to the eyes
The veins are large and stick out
It almost seems that blood should be flowing through them
The journey this little leaf must have traveled
The distance is great I know
How brave this leaf is
To leave it's home, some tree far away
To visit me for just a day
Standing there holding the leaf
I listen as it tells it's story to me
All the wondrous places its been
I feel jealous and full of envy
In anger I throw the leaf down
The wind picks up and takes away my friend
On another journey another adventure
How lucky that leaf is
