Never Say Never

"Never say never
And never say forever"
Her just shrugged and said.
I just looked up and nodded my head.

Those words stuck in my head through out the day,
Wondering what he was trying to say.
I just spilled my heart.
Letting him know that I liked him from the start.

He smiled and hugged me,
Saying, "I am with someone you see"
I again nodded and pulled away.
Knowing his heart did not feel the same way.

It took all my courage to keep an expressionless face,
As my heart felt as if it was torn out of place.
He gave a small laugh as he said, "Don't be said."
And as he said those words I felt as if my heart went bad.

"I'm not. Not at all." I said as I looked down,
Trying so hard not to show a frown.
"Not even a small bit?" He asked?
I shook my head, my face still masked.

"I know it will never go anywhere
So why care?
And there is nothing to get worked up about
So there is nothing to doubt."

He shrugged as he said. "Never say never,
And never say forever.
Just two things to identify."
I should have told him. but I was to shy.

He broke my heart.
Right there from the start.
It was just life, playing it's part.
