Fate

by aeco   Jul 10, 2006

You stood by the door with a bag in your hand
But just an explanation is all i demand
You shook your head and walked out the door
All i could think of was to shout out some more

I ran out behind you, screaming and crying
Tears stained the cement as i was dying
You had left, driven away
Leaving me behind with nothing to say

I knelt on the ground not knowing what to do
Trying to realize that we were through
So many thoughts running through my head
Could the reason have been me, to why you fled?

Memories filled my thoughts so fast,
Like how you said our love would last
I remember that day like it was yesterday
When you called me with so much to say

We met at the park and you surprised me with flowers
And we spent out time cuddling for what seemed like hours
As the moon and stars came out that night
You looked at me with your face so bright

You said you would love me, and forever you would
Until you were dying, until you could
After that, we were inseparable
Our love for each other was never questionable

But look at us now, I'm sitting on the ground
Hoping even for a moment that you'd come around
I don't know what to do or where to go
all i can do now is sit here feeling low

You were the best thing in my life, and i let you walk away
I didn't even have enough courage to make you stay
I was so sure you'd come back forgetting the past and starting out new
But i knew now that that wasn't true

So as i get up and start heading for the door
I finally realized that we were no more
No matter what i do, or however long i wait
What has happened, has happened, and it was fate
