Shame

by Taylor   Jul 10, 2006

Hide my face, cruel darkness.
Disguise this shame
with your mask of sorrow.
For sin has stolen the rest
of my forsaken soul,
but denies what I shan't see.

Lost is my God in love,
thus where sleeps grace
and unended mercy?
None of which my teary-eyed vision
can recognize beyond surrounding fear.

Tainted blood sears the soul.
Accompanied by the all-consuming fire
ablaze in my rampant spirit.
So heartlessly choking the mind
with ashed clouds of lost light

A promise half kept,
I bow my head at your feet
and travel again to thine doorstep,
an unfaithful servant.

Come to my aid, forgotten cross,
that in which encircles
the scarred throat.
To destroy such anguish with your
innocent beauty,
and cast upon my face,
not single a more shadow.
