Two Months Today

2 months now today

I have had you back
A week now today
Each moment I wonder
Are you here to stay?

My sweet baby girl
You have been through too much
When first arriving back
You I could not touch

Distant, confused, unsettled
This I would describe
The new girl in our home
Newly escaped from her old tribe

Unhappy, angry, cynical
New traits have found you
My baby now 8
You do seem so blue

You have ups
And then downs
An ending you want
So you can sleep sound

Innocent child
No longer portrays you
No choice of your own
Living life on queue

I search each day
Looking in your troubled eyes
For the girl I once knew
And always recognized

You have been back
Two weeks now today
Each moment I wonder
Are you here to stay?

You smile more often
And now cuddle with me
When I look in your eyes
Is that glee that I see?

Each day you awaken
New joy does appears
Your spirit coming back
Your soul shifting gears

Daddy wanted so badly
To be all you did want
While changing your outlook
Your heart feeling gaunt

Your Daddy now says
You can choose for yourself
Who do you want?
Mom or myself?

You told him your mom
Together at last
Yet holding our breath
While having a blast

Relaxed you have become
While living with mom
Yes, glee is what I see
Happy you have also become

You have been back
Two months now today
Each moment you must wonder
Am I really here to stay?

Your beautiful spirit
Shining so bright
Your ever-grinning face
Remains this way even at night

He is taking his time
The game is quite fun
Those papers please sign
For further away we may run
