Call the Shots

They tell you you're beautiful.
They say you;re the only one.
They sing of love stories,
And say it is just for fun.

But what about you?
And what you are?
Can't you see, darling,
It won't get you far.

It may bring attention,
It could bring some money,
But if you look inside,
That isn't what you want, honey.

You can't throw your life away,
With just a few acts.
You got to listen to the heart,
And look at all the facts.

So even if they say it is just once,
Or say it is just for the ride,
Push them away, and say,
"I'm the one who calls the shots."

If you are in control,
You have the direction of your life.
And that is all you need,
To raise your fists for the fight.

Winning is no guarantee,
But loosing isn't an option,
Because when you fulfill your heart,
It doesn't matter what happens.

Turn your life around,
And you won't turn back.
Because once your walking,
Nothing can take you off that track.

[Sometimes I am listening to music when I write poetry, so hence the, "Honey" and "Darling". And how I see it, "Options" and "Happens" might not rhyme completely, but since they both have two syllables, it is able to make the poem flow... my opinion, at least.
