She's staring with sad sightless eyes
out this dusty old window
wishing to escape this place just pack a bag and go
she's wiping away tears
each a reminder of her broken heart
reminding of things past
reminding of how past and present
seem so far apart
she's shivering inside and out
though the weather has been hot
thinking of her many failures
thinking of everything shes not
she's hearing distant voices
spoken only for her ears
taking her back in time
to relive her painful years
she hates herself
hates that no matter what she does
something seems to be wrong
she wants to heal
but can only weep
so she takes these pills
and prays for dreamless sleep
the demons torment her during day
the nightmares at night
draining her of frail life
draining her of fight
though she wont give in to the seductive whisper
that suggests her life end
instead she prays for a savior
anyone, a friend.
