Trepidation shakes the soul,
Stirs minds,
Stirs thoughts,
Moves the heart.
It is part of us,
Fear.
An everyday part of us,
Part of our minds,
Part of our hearts,
Part of our very core.
From day to day we pretend,
Pretend to fear nothing,
and believe we are invincible.
Reality tells us different.
To fear death is childish,
To fear torment is inane,
To fear people is petulant,
but to fear, fear itself has society to blame.
For what are our hopes made of but past fears?
Fears never forgotten,
Fears suppressed,
Suppressed deep within ourselves,
Never forgotten,
But never resurfaced.
