We're Still Standing

My best friend is awesome
My best friend is always there
When others leave me hanging
She's always the one to care

My best friend is different
But in the best way there could be
But if she was the same as everyone else
She'd still mean the world to me

Every time I'm feeling down
Or it ends up I'm in tears
She's there in a split second
And helps me wash away my fears

My best friend is funny
My best friend is kind
She always helps me through things
And never takes her troubles to mind

When she is feeling down
She tries not to let it show
She carries the weight of both of us
She doesn't want me to know

I wish I could be like her
And help her when she's down
I smile when I help her
For a treasure we have found

We'll stand by each other forever
Lesson's we'll learn in time
Because friend's like you are worth a million
And I didn't have to pay a dime

They said we'd fade apart
It wouldn't last for very long
But here we still stand
We've proven them all wrong

She may not be perfect
But I am not as well
We can see right past the lies
Fake smiles we can tell

All these things are useful now
For we are at a tough state
We'll work through it together
And chart our own fates

Years may drag others apart
Though we've proven that one wrong
Year after year, we're still best friends
We've been like that for oh so long

They say that it will never last
Others we will find
But we're still standing tall and strong
The same smiles we've worn in time
