Stupid me.

How could I be so stupid?
To say I wouldn't stop you.
It wasn't me saying it,
And it isn't true.

I cried for you all night,
And I hurt myself for you too.
I can't let you do this to yourself,
And as a friend I'm going to help you get through.

I asked you a question, expecting a no,
But instead I get a "maybe and I'm getting very close".
I started crying as soon as I heard those words,
Making me hold our friendship to my heart so close.

How could I be so stupid?
To say I wouldn't stop you.
It wasn't me saying it,
And it isn't true.

I cried the whole time I was talking to you,
Continually saying I love you and you mean a lot to me.
In the shower, I sat down and cried my little heart out,
Hating myself for letting those four little words be.

I won't let you hurt yourself this way,
Because knowing this makes me hurt too.
I want to help you get through each painful day,
So you can find your real smile again.

Why must I be the only one to know?
It's going to cause me more pain I don't need.
My tears continually want to show,
And the blade is continually releasing the pain this information made.

If you leave, I'll miss you so much.
My heart and head will be filled with grieving tears,
Making my depression worse,
And I'll be haunted by new fears.
