You promised me you'd be there
when the rain began to fall
but when i looked for you
you were never there at all

you'd love me
and always remain true
but then came the time
another was with you

You promised me the sky
and endless love forever
and when things got rough
wed always be together

You promised me the moon
that you'd travel to the stars
just to prove you love me
you'd go as far as mars

You promised me no pain
you'd never break my heart
that'd you'd always love me
and wed never be apart

I was so innocent
vulnerable and naive
every single word you spoke
all i did was believe

As if for the first time
i opened my eyes
saw the person you are
saw all of your lies

Empty promises
is all i have left of you
cuz after i found out
i knew that we were through

Never again
would i trust my heart
i block out everyone
right from the start

Empty promises
still echo in my head
the effect they have on me
makes me wish that i was dead

Maybe one day
ill trust once more
but at the moment
my heart is frozen to the core
