If I understood this as you intended it to be, then all I have to say is: what an awesome metaphor! I wasn't sure whether this is a poem about a brother, or about a friend, it would work either way.

The repetition on "drift" really added to it as well. Amazing choice of words, you evidently put a lot of thought into it.
