Back to Heartbreak

by Jennifer Dziak   Jul 16, 2006

We were almost there, we almost made it
And after you left, you almost faded.

I almost recovered, almost the same.
I almost remembered to forget your name

I almost won, but there was you
Broke down my barriers to love me to.

You made it better but there’s almost doubt
That you’ll start lying and I won't find out.

I was almost gone, I was almost free
And you almost turned around and came back for me.

But that same old story, that same old song
Is playing again, it has been all along.

I am just second rate, I am not for love.
I am that victory you are so proud of.

And the sad part is, I'll never be able to leave.
I love you so much, I'd rather be naive.

I'll sit in this darkness, wait to hear you speak.

To break my heart with the same ol' technique.

I love how you build each line up by saying something that could be good and then you let all hopes crash wit the next line, good way to keep a readers attention
