Firefly Eyes

by Macabre   Jul 17, 2006

Flames burn, in these sunken skull eyes,
and fireflies dance in their hollowed caves,
flickering shadows rise and fade on the ground,
a shadow ball, the bugs attend,
death casting it's spell, over a weak head.

Gravestone grey, these teeth that remain,
rotting corpse, hold home to smaller bones,
snakes wrapped around the spine, and
wolves pecking at the marrow.

A dark ritual is this, the mountain death,
no trace or memory, found of this face,
and on these flames burn, these firefly eyes,
entertaining the feast of the wild,
these firefly eyes,
dancing,
in the night.

Wow, I really like it. It paints pictures in my mind. I can see all the things you wrote about because you have such a way with words! 5/5

There’s something really dark and cool about this one. I really loved the imagery and the words. It flowed nicely but somewhere in the middle it seemed a touch weird. Still really cool job. Loved the way the words worked to create something cool.
