Such a pain I was,
but you never lost sight,
of my potential
and how I could lead my life.
I wouldn't listen to you,
I thought you didn't understand
who I was inside,
I was just so sad.
But finally I came to realize
that you could see further inside of me
that the image I saw
of who I was trying to be.
You could see the light
even when it was dark,
there are no words to describe
how you gave my life a head start.
I gave up
before I got started,
I ran far away
when things got harder.
I didn't want to feel
that I was good enough,
I like the possibilities,
but you called my bluff.
When I finally came to realise
that you knew all along,
it gave me hope to move forward
and the will to be strong.
You understood my strengths
and encouraged my dreams,
it took a while to get there
but now I truly believe.
To have this figure in my life
was a true blessing,
it made me see all the things
in my life that I was missing.
I write these words for you
to make you understand
the difference you made in my life
when you put out your hand.
You are the reason I found myself in me.
You are the reason I know who I want to be.
You are the reason I can look past what I see.
You are the reason all I want to be is me.
You are the reason,
