Loving Slumber

by Bethan   Jul 20, 2006

Your love is a slumber,
from which I never wish to wake,
A safe and comforting dream,
That reality cannot take,

Like a sleep-filled fantasy,
That overtakes my mind,
awakening feeling lost,
Till your sleeping form I find,

Seeking comfort in knowing,
That it's more than just a dream,
This security and happiness,
Is just as it did seem,

You can understand sometimes,
When the waking world creeps in,
With it come anxieties,
That we must overcome to win,

For what we have is priceless,
Something to cherish and to keep,
So you I'll see you in my dreams,
Next time you lay your head to sleep.

I love this poem. I also love to sleep so that's a good combination. I work the night shift so when I come home in the morning everyone else is waking up but I see my husband while I'm dreaming. Great poem.5/5
