So I'm Different

by Avrii Monrielle   Jul 21, 2006

So I'm different

So I'm a Christian
I read the bible; I'm a goody-goody
I don't do anything wrong
I pray to God the father and Jesus
So I'm Christian

I'm Wiccan
I can cast spells and charms
To get that hot new kid in class
To bring someone from the dead
I'm Wiccan

I'm Buddhist
I know my religion but not the whole way
I believe in reincarnation and nirvana
I aim for perfection
I'm Buddhist

I'm a Taoist
I believe that when I die and I'm good enough
I get to live part of the Tao
It's yin and yang, people, yin and yang
I'm a Taoist

I practice Islam
I'm Muslim, not "Moslem", I like the sun and moon
I dress up in different clothes because I'm different
It's a law over here to act the way I do
I practice Islam

What I really want to say, no matter who I am
Is don't push me away because my religion seems a scam
I've got feelings just like you, and I don't kill for fun
If I said I was Catholic, would you call me a nun?

The things we do in life we choose by ourselves
And if we don't, then we're pushed by someone else
Don't treat me different just because we're not the same
Because if you do that, all you will do is discriminate

That's why they made people called friends
It's where the loving starts and the calling names ends
So if you want to let it slide that you're different from me
That's perfectly okay because that's how it's meant to be

Hehee, I'm amused by the structure of this poem, It seems... very familiar.

All that side however, you bring up fair points, but you didnt take them to the extremes, such as, the sterotyped Jewish man after WW2, or Islamic follower since 9/11. Or when I say the word buddha, people say "oh the fat guy you rub his tummy for good luck, right?" Lol.

I enjoyed this poem well done.

And to your comment: Yes I use my poetry to escape the pressures of friends and home. i become closed off and almost mute when in a mood. its hard for those around me to deal with. And also happy belated to you as well =]

    Love always.

I like this poem because God made us all different...he has his reasons and he didn't want us to have people turn us away for his creation.
