Burned Angel

by RetroRavey   Jul 23, 2006

A burn across her face,
Scarred for life
This beautiful child.
Pain above all
On that fateful night,
Merits a mother's fear
And a father's hate.
She now sits on a bed
In the burn ward of the hospital.
The people passing by
Draw back in wretched fear,
As to the phantom in the mask.
But to me,
She is, above all, lovely.
For though her face distorted,
In her soul lies Angel tears
And her heart
Is full of love.

Not my favorite of yours, but the ending was beautiful. That really made the poem.
