Stepping On Love

I went out tonight to meet someone new.
Little did I know that it would be you.
I was just dancing and trying to forget
about a relationship that ended and left me upset.
I didn't figure anyone would be looking at me.
I thought my broken heart would be plain to see.
But when I looked around the dance floor,
I saw you standing beside the door.
You gave me a smile, and I didn't know what to do.
So I just smiled right back at you.
I figured sadly that would be the end.
So I turned and started dancing with a friend.

Moments later I happened to sneak a glance by the door,
but you weren't standing there anymore.
My heart sunk back into my chest,
and I told myself it's probably best.
A slow song came on, and I went to take a seat,
but somehow I accidentally stepped on someone's feet.
I started to apologize, and then I looked up.
Somehow my heart felt like it was going to erupt.
Oh my god it was you!
Why did my stupid feet have to step on your shoe?

But you took my hand and said may I have this dance?
I said yes, but you'll have to give my feet a chance.
You laughed and looked into my eyes,
and we started dancing much to my surprise.
You held me close as we started to chat,
and soon I forgot where I was really at.
Suddenly the song ended, and it was time to go.
It was one of those unwished for moments you know.
I said thanks for the dance, it was really great,
and you responded your feet are really top rate.
I smiled and turned to walk away,
but you touched my shoulder and kindly asked me to stay.

We danced some more,
and before we knew it, we were the only ones on the floor.
Then you walked me to my car and opened the door.
I said thanks, sometime we'll have to dance some more,
You said I had a great time too,
and if it's alright I'd really like to call you.
I gave you my number, and you said good night and take care until we again meet.
Oh and next time you don't have to step on my feet.
