Jerusalem

by Darkening Dawn   Jul 23, 2006

The destruction was foretold
The pandemonium foreseen
Yet it was not heeded
Now the unfaithful lie bloated and decaying
from days being left to putrefy

The holy city lies in blackened rubble
forests of crosses surrounded the city
lifeless forms draped across them
a cold breath of wind
sweeps across the silent ruins
Bodies of civilians and soldiers
lie entwined like slaughtered animals
Death roams the streets
like a hungry beast looking for its next victim

Jerusalem lies conquered
ridiculed by Rome.

You write so well. You have your focus on so many things. Very nice.
