I had a dream
A dream that wouldn't end
You were holding me tight not wanting to let go
I was crying you were trying to act all brave but I could see the tears
You were in your uniform I was in my dress
You were holding your baby boy in your arms for the last time for years
You wouldn't be able to see him till you got home from war
Men and women all on a bus
Wives, mom's, dad's, brothers sisters all have signs saying
We love you ,Come home soon
Husbands, sons, dads, daughters, wives all waving good-bye
I had a dream
It still didn't end
You were laying in a casket with your uniform on
Soldiers with guns
A flag folded up nice
Your son not knowing daddy's dead
Everyone's crying again
They hand me a flag and your hat and tell me
Your husband was a great soldier he died for you and our country.
I had a dream
I was talking to a big crowd at your funeral
I was crying couldn't stop
Talked about how we met till our last good-bye
They played our song when they put you in the ground
Guns were shot
Soldiers saluted
I had a dream
But it wasn't a dream at all
It was reality
