Tender Hues

by Natasha Lau   Jul 24, 2006

Yellow like the sun,
streaming through half open curtains;
A hand, reaching into the shadows
fingers outstretched

The tender touch of an aura
A soft white happiness, surging
surging through every vein,
the blood of the morning.

Darkness ebbs away like an evening tide,
while gently, the light unfurls
It rolls down the windows, the walls, the door,
Spilling out onto the floor, rippling, like wind through water

Inside you it flows, penetrating your inner depths,
A warmth that gushes deeper, grows hotter
Setting fire to your heart.
The inferno that is your soul

There it burns
A red flame, red smouldering and red iridescent
It quivers, it rages
Roaring like a beast, this uncontrollable anger

Such strange passion
Fueled by a deep green jealousy,
Great vines of envy,
They snake towards your throat

When rain falls, it splatters from the heavens
Sharp daggers that tumble to the ground
We all fall down, we all fall down
Spearing hopes, smothering furies

Sadness is like that
The plunging blue sadness
that drenches
It drenches you until you are wading

Pouring down, down, down.
Drowning the screams from within you
Now even the beast is silenced
A steaming carcass drains away

And nothing is left.
