The Last Tear

by David   Jul 24, 2006

Today I walked through the park,
Followed the same path that we use to follow,
and I even sat on our bench.

I saw the kids play in the playground,
the squirrels chased each other.
The same old man fed the birds,
the butterflies were loving the flowers,
and a tear rolled down my cheek...
as I thought of you.

as usual,
I expected the other tears to follow.
They didn't come.

And I noticed how my heart didn't hurt anymore.
How my breathing was relaxed for a change.
I noticed how for the first time in months,
I wasn't missing you.
I could barely picture your face.

I wasn't hating you,
for I could never hate you,
but I knew right then,
that I wasn't loving you either.

I felt full of life,
I felt victorious from your grasp.
I smiled as I enjoyed my tear of happiness,
of relief,
of freedom to love again.

Good luck wherever you are.
I hope you cried the last tear for me as well.
