Smile

by Katelyn   Jul 25, 2006

Something unspoken
but understood by all
it brings joy to our bad days
a band aid to a hurtful fall

It show cases an emotion
that is sometimes misunderstood
to tell you how I feel
oh I wish I could

Silent passings of time itself
reminding you to know
that the summer is almost over
and that you have to go

the mornings come and
I see you again
sharing the spinning
at a quarter to ten

our bikes pass each other
as I share with you
the key to my heart
my only clue

I want to know your name
who you really are
what your ambitions may be
and if you are going far

the last morning of summer
I skip my normal routine
I canâ??t say goodbye
when I know I will be mean

Instead I go out for a mocha
and listen to my I tunes
my eyes widen as you order
and sense a hope of new moon

I bottle my fears
and throw them out to sea
my courage needs someone
to take a chance ; me

You ask me what I am drinking
and I compliment your band tee
I remind you of the mornings
and then you ask to sit with me

I let out my feelings and how
I wish I wouldâ??ve said something
you say that you remember
also that you are leaving this morning

Have a safe trip I say
as we head for the door
as you shake my hand
a picture of me fails to the floor

I pick it up while you blush
and confess that you had biked a mile
every single morning
just to see me smile
