Safety of the Storm

by Anna La Fleur   Jul 25, 2006

Thunder claps
the wind blows
the rain washes the world
the cleansing storm rages on
branches crash to the ground
the lightning flashes
sister thunder follows close
never far behind
the storm offers safety
the storm welcomes me home
here is my refuge
among the debris
nothing more calming
the world washes clean

the storm passed
offering comfort to others
with the passing of the rage
so comes my perdition
the coiled snake finally strikes
time to find another sheild
to hide me from the rage
this yet unmatched
my security shattered
with the safely passed tornado
