Almost

by Cuddles   Jul 26, 2006

I almost told him everything,
but fate played against me.
I almost bared my soul,
but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

I almost lost myself
to the sadness that consumed me,
but sanity won again.
Still I couldn't be happy.

I almost asked him to stay,
but the words wouldn't come.
I almost stopped living.
I kept hoping I'd go numb.

I almost lost my life to depression.
It was hard to surmount.
But what's important is that I'm still fighting.
Almost doesn't count.
