Little Girl

by Christine   Jul 27, 2006

Little Girl,
With the smiling eyes,
Reaching out with arms open wide.
Little Girl,
Reach up high,
Grab the stars and touch the sky.
Little Girl,
In your wheelchair,
You're never alone, I'll be there.
Little Girl,
Share your love,
Keep on smiling and looking up.
Little Girl,
With that beautiful smile,
You're an adult but always a child.
Little Girl,
Like a dove,
You're my angel from up above.
Little Girl,
With the most joy,
The most love that I have known,
It doesn't matter that you're different,
Or if they see what's in your soul.
Little Girl,
I can't comprehend,
What you are in other people's eyes.
Little Girl,
I hope that someday others will see,
Just how perfect and how beautiful you are to me.
Little Girl,
You will always be,
A light in the dark that shines on me.
Like a light in the sky,
That shines so bright upon my heart,
You will always be my brightest star.

Wow, that was really good. I loved it. My cousin who died two years ago this month was just as you described in your poem. An adult acting like a child but still so much light and love shone from her. This poem is beautiful. Thank you for being talented enough to write it. ~Cj
