Lady in the Night

by Stephanie Lynn   Jul 27, 2006

A flash of light
the sound of thunder
breaks the night
as she begins to wonder,
"Outside should I stay?
oh, do I dare?
I can't say
that someone will care."

The rain falls fast,
as she sits alone,
thoughts of her past
have her let out a groan.
They take her back,
way back to her yesterdays,
she now knows what she lacks
in every way.

As she starts to sleep
on that bench in the park,
she can't help but weep
into the dark.
She will not awaken
to see the morning dew.
For she will be taken
and will wait for me and you.
