Deep Woods

by Chris Drane   Jul 28, 2006

The fresh leaves are decaying
Cold fall nights
They were my only comfort
One to many familiar things

The tree is starting to weep
Bland fall mornings
It shielded me from the world
I could never escape

The river is drying up
Lonely fall afternoons
The sound covered up
What I was cutting out
