No matter what I did you stood by and protected me

I failed to see through the lies and help you
I watched you fall into a world with no possibilities
No love joy or friendship
You had no shoulder to cry on and no friend to hug
When you needed me I failed you yet you stayed
You held on until it was too late to back down
I ripped your heart to pieces and threw it away
